More About Kim Kay
Kim eats, sleeps, and breathes ramen in the Tokyo and Yokohama area. Since moving to Japan in 2019, she has slurped over 150 bowls of ramen each year. Her love of travel began in 2011 when she moved to Kuwait, followed by six years living in Thailand and Cambodia before settling in the greater Tokyo area. She is fascinated by the connection between food and culture, and how cuisine reflects the history and identity of a place. You will often find her soaking in an onsen in the mountains of Nagano, or savoring a Kitakata ramen for breakfast in Fukushima.

Kim’s writing explores Japan’s culinary traditions, regional specialties, and unrivaled travel experiences. She has written for publications including Travel + Leisure, Tokyo Weekender, byFood, and Savor Japan.

She has also appeared as a guest on podcasts such as Ramen Hunter and Ramen in Japan, and has collaborated on short-form video content with Tokyo Weekender, Ramen Adventures, and Baba Ramen.

You can find her latest ramen recommendations on Instagram, where she shares her reviews, spotlights the latest ramen innovations, and tells the stories behind the legendary bowls that define Tokyo’s ramen culture.
